How to use the LED Wall Calculator

  1. Pick your cabinet size — 500×500 mm is the STENA standard; 500×1000 and 640×480 are also supported.
  2. Choose a pixel pitch (P1.9, P2.5, P2.6 or P3.9).

This LED wall calculator turns a panel spec into a full screen build. How the numbers are calculated

Every LED wall is a grid of identical cabinets, so the math is exact once you know one cabinet:

  • Resolution — pixels per cabinet = cabinet size ÷ pixel pitch. A 500 mm cabinet at P2.6 is about 192 px per side, so an 8×4 grid is roughly 1536×768 px.
  • Physical size — cabinet size × the number of cabinets across and down, shown in meters and feet.
  • Area — width × height in square meters, which drives both weight and power.

Weight and power assumptions

Weight and power depend on the specific panel, so we use reasonable indoor-SMD defaults and show them as approximations:

  • Weight ≈ 7 kg per 500×500 mm cabinet (P2.6). Larger cabinets scale up proportionally.
  • Power ≈ 150 W/m² average content, with a peak of about 500 W/m² on a full-white frame. Size your distro and generator to the peak, not the average.

Cabinets vs. meters

You can't hang a fraction of a cabinet, so when you enter a size in meters we round to the nearest whole cabinet and flag it. If an exact physical size matters, work in cabinets and read the resulting meters back.

How do I calculate LED wall resolution?

Divide the cabinet size by the pixel pitch to get pixels per cabinet, then multiply by the number of cabinets across and down. A 500 mm cabinet at P2.6 is about 192 px per side, so an 8×4 wall is roughly 1536×768 px.

How much does an LED wall weigh?

It depends on the panel, but a typical indoor 500×500 mm P2.6 cabinet is around 7 kg. Multiply by the total number of cabinets — a 32-cabinet wall is roughly 224 kg plus rigging.

How much power does an LED wall use?

Indoor SMD panels average around 150 W/m² on normal content and can peak near 500 W/m² on a full-white frame. Always size power distribution to the peak figure, not the average.

What pixel pitch should I choose?

Smaller pitch (P1.9, P2.5) means higher resolution and closer comfortable viewing, at a higher cost. P2.6 is a strong all-round choice for events and photo walls. Use the viewing distance calculator to match pitch to how close your audience stands.

What is a cabinet or module?

A cabinet is one physical LED panel that tiles with others to form the wall. STENA uses 500×500 mm P2.6 cabinets, so a wall size is just how many you place across and down.
