How to use the Aspect Ratio Calculator

  1. Pick an aspect ratio preset (16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 21:9) or type a custom W:H.
  2. Choose your units — pixels, meters, or 0.5 m cabinets.
  3. Say whether you know the width or the height, then enter its value.
  4. Read the solved dimension plus the suggested cabinet grid and its physical size.

This aspect ratio calculator solves the everyday sizing problem: you know the ratio you want and one dimension, and you need the other. Choose a common ratio — 16:9, 4:3, 1:1 or 21:9 — or type any custom W:H, then enter a width or height in pixels, meters, or 0.5 m LED cabinets.

How it works

An aspect ratio is just the proportion width : height. Given a ratio and one side, the other follows directly:

  • Height = width × ratioH ÷ ratioW
  • Width = height × ratioW ÷ ratioH

For a 16:9 wall 4 m wide, the height is 4 × 9 ÷ 16 = 2.25 m.

Cabinet-grid suggestion

Because STENA builds walls from 0.5 × 0.5 m cabinets, the calculator also rounds your solved size to the nearest whole cabinet grid and shows the resulting physical size. A 16:9 wall 4 × 2.25 m becomes an 8 × 5 grid (40 cabinets, 4 × 2.5 m) since you can't hang a fraction of a cabinet.

Working in pixels, meters or cabinets

  • Meters — best for planning the physical footprint against a venue.
  • Cabinets — enter the grid directly; 1 cabinet = 0.5 m.
  • Pixels — for content and canvas sizing; pair with the LED wall calculator to convert pixels to an exact panel count at a given pixel pitch.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate 16:9 dimensions from one side?

Multiply the width by 9 and divide by 16 to get the height (or multiply the height by 16 and divide by 9 for the width). A 4 m wide 16:9 wall is 2.25 m tall.

What is a 16:9 aspect ratio in meters for an LED wall?

Any size where width ÷ height = 16 ÷ 9. Common turnkey builds are 3.5 × 2 m, 4.5 × 2.5 m and 6 × 3.5 m — the calculator rounds any target to a whole 0.5 m cabinet grid.

What aspect ratios does STENA support?

16:9 widescreen, 1:1 square and 4:3 are standard, plus fully custom sizes — corner, trapezoid and curved layouts included. This tool also handles 21:9 and any custom W:H.

Why is the cabinet grid rounded?

A wall is physically built from whole 0.5 m cabinets, so a solved size is snapped to the nearest whole grid. Work in cabinets if you want the exact grid, and read the meters back.
